How To Balance Between Work, Sports, and Study

Hickey · Oct 22, 2021 · Leave a Comment

Balance is a tricky skill to achieve even for the most grounded of us out there in the world. Finding that sweet spot between juggling several areas of life at one time and still maintaining a general sense of balance is a lot easier said than done.

Keeping an organized daily planner and calendar, scheduling self-care days, setting up goals and boundaries, and most importantly, talking to someone when you are feeling overwhelmed are all important ways to balance between work, sports, and study for just about anyone.

This article will expand upon the suggestions listed above for all of us to find a good balance between work, sports, and study without getting too overwhelmed. Keep reading if you, too, are looking for tips on how to maintain three or more aspects of life at one time!

Organization Is Key!

Keeping a detailed itemized schedule of what you have to do, when you must do it by, and where you must be to do it is an essential piece to keeping your day-to-day schedule flowing in one direction.

Creating a calendar on your phone, carrying a daily planner, or even both can be your best friend when it comes to staying on top of your to-do list. Writing your entire day down ensures you have a better chance of getting to work, school, and that game across town all on time.

Items to make sure you categorize are:

  • Time – class, work, and games
  • Due dates for projects and assignments work or school
  • Appointments for meetings, group discussions, practice, etc.
  • Task requirements, i.e., wear a blue shirt to game, bring cupcakes to work parties, study guide due Monday, etc.

Schedule in Self-Care

Balance is all about keeping healthy maintenance of all aspects of one’s life, including themselves. Trying to push through when you know your body is screaming to take a break will not only ensure those balls you’ve been juggling will fall, but also that you will as well.

Scheduling even ten minutes of a break between running from school to that game and then work will make a world of difference to your overall well-being. Finding shortcuts to help you make your life easier is also a form of self-care.

These shortcuts can include carpooling to that game, so you can study, taking a walk during your work lunch break, checking out websites where you can pay for an essay instead of staying up till 1 am researching the lifespan of a dung beetle.

Creating Goals and Boundaries

Having an end in sight is a great tool to lessen anxiety about what is due or still needs to be done. Setting realistic goals for all areas of your life is important to make sure it all gets done but can also be celebrated when it is.

Boundaries are also essential to making sure balance remains intact. Knowing your limits and not overextending your time, resources, and physical body will not only assist in making sure you stay healthy mentally and physically, but also allow others to understand what your boundaries are.

Seek Help When Needed

We all need help once in a while, and there is no shame in admitting you need help or just a shoulder to vent to. When you are experiencing high levels of stress, let’s say, because of your sociology essays, it is always vital to reach out and let someone know you need to talk or even a time-out.

Conclusion

Balancing work, school, and sports is a job by itself and takes a lot of skill in maneuvering schedules, time management, and identifying when you need a break. Creating a daily plan to ensure your juggling act stays on the road is an effective tool anyone can incorporate into their lives.
