Water weight is also much faster to drop than actual pounds, though you should be pragmatic about the amount of water weight that is safe for you to lose and your expectations for overall fat loss.
In most cases, cutting stacks with diuretics is best saved for somebody who needs to meet specific weight classes for competition, not for people cutting for aesthetic or overall fitness and health reasons.
Most Common Side Effects Of Cutting Stacks
There are two popular ingredients that you’ll find in cutting stacks that pose the greatest risk of making you experience side effects, they are stimulants and diuretics.
Caffeine is one of the most common cutting stack ingredients and the most widely-used stimulant globally, and unfortunately, it has a well-known set of side effects.

- Muscle pulls
The probability of experiencing these side effects increases when your daily amount goes above 300 mg. However, the onset of side effects’ tolerance depends on your body weight and sensitivity to caffeine.
Common sense will tell you that larger people can tolerate caffeine at higher doses better than people that weigh less.
Men also have a lower incidence rate of caffeine-related side effects, but plenty of men are still affected by supplements with caffeine in them, so don’t think you can abuse it just because you’re a man.
The side effects from other stimulants, like green tea extract and green coffee bean extract, aren’t as well studied but normally include very similar side effects as caffeine, like digestive problems such as diarrhea and, in rare cases, liver damage.
Diuretics in your cutting stacks
Diuretics can lead to irregularities in your body’s electrolyte levels, particularly for potassium. Further, they can (and in fact are designed to) lead to dehydration, which poses its own set of side effects.

As discussed above, diuretic usage is not the right call for users of a cutting stack unless it is for a short-term weight cut to hit a specific weight class for competition.
Diuretics carry side effect risks that just aren’t justified if your goal is to drop fat mass and maintain muscle mass, with less concern about what the actual number on the scale is.
Should You Cycle Cutting Stacks
Most people will recommend cycling off of your cutting stack every 4 to 6 weeks, you’ll then take 7 to 10 days off then start another cycle if you haven’t hit the desired goal.
Using a cutting stack for much longer than this will likely not result in substantially greater benefits, and can increase the potential for side effects.
As far as how many cycles you do, will depend on when you hit your goal.
If you aren’t happy with the amount of muscle definition you have, then do another cycle. It would help if you also changed your diet up and maybe do more cardio to help you reach your goal.
Recommended Dosage For Cutting Stacks
You can look at specific ingredients, like caffeine, and you know that you should limit yourself to only a few hundred milligrams a day.
Then you would have to go through every ingredient in all of the products you wanted to include in your stack and then find out the individual daily amounts you should take.
This is why I like to buy stacks from companies that include their own products in a stack that they sell together.
This will give you a collection of products put together by the manufacturer to tell you exactly how much to take per day, how long to take them, and when to cycle on and off.
What Types Of Supplements Should Be Included In Your Cutting Stack
When buying a cutting stack, you should look for three types of supplements: fat burners, muscle maintainers, and hormone boosters.
Fat burners include caffeine, green tea extract, and garcinia Cambogia; these elements stimulate the rate your body metabolizes fat and raise your overall metabolic rate.
These are advantageous results because they increase the amount of energy, and fat specifically, that you burn at rest.
Combined with a caloric deficit from your cutting diet, you’ll shed fat rapidly.
Muscle preservers are products that help you preserve your existing muscle during a cut, like branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs).
They will have some crossover with hormone boosters because one of the best ways to support your body to keep muscle mass is to have high testosterone and human growth hormone levels.
Feeding your body with the necessary vitamins and minerals to manufacture these hormones may help you keep high levels of anabolic hormones, even during a cut.
Can You Lose Weight And Build Muscle At The Same Time
Cutting fat without losing any muscle mass is the holy grail of any weightlifter, whether amateur or professional.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible. Unless you are brand spanking new to the weight lifting world, and even then, it will only be possible for a few months.
However, with the right training regimen and nutrition plan, you can maximize the amount of fat you lose and minimize the amount of muscle lost at the same time.
When stacking cutting, and bulking phases back to back, you can substantially increase your strength and decrease your body fat percentage over time.
What Cutting Stacks Will Get You Abs
It’s impossible to target certain areas of your body to lose weight.
When you lose and gain weight it is done evenly throughout your body.
The only way to make sure you receive the coveted six-pack is to work on training your abdominal muscles and to eat a diet of whole foods and to stay away from processed foods.

I always advise against doing this since many pre-workout supplements share many of the same ingredients as products in your cutting stack.
Since ingredients like caffeine and other stimulants will be in both supplements, you don’t want to be taking too much, especially since most pre-workouts already cause many people anxiety.
There is always a way for you to find a supplement that will help you reach your goals. You need to know what to look for and make sure that you’re not using it as a shortcut or replacing hard work.
I don’t care how well made your cutting stack is; if you’re not putting in the hard work and eating a proper diet, your results will look like shit in the end.
